For the second consecutive game, PJ Washington had a big performance for the Charlotte Hornets. In 37 minutes played Monday night, Washington dropped 28 points on 12/21 shooting in a loss to De’Aaron Fox (who actually left early due to injury) and the Sacramento Kings. The game prior on Saturday night, Washington dropped 31 and hit two game-clinching free throws in an overtime victory against the defending champion Golden State Warriors.

Unlike his former Kentucky teammates Tyler Herro and Keldon Johnson, Washington and his team did not come to an agreement on a rookie extension this offseason, thus making him a restricted free agent in the upcoming offseason. Washington is off to a great start in a hugely important contract year, averaging a career-high 17.1 PPG with 47% FG/40% 3PT/83% FT shooting splits. Monday night’s contest marked the first time that Washington has ever had consecutive 25-point games in the NBA, making his 59 points over his last two games the most in any two-game span of his career.

Hopefully, PJ continues to ball out this season and earns a huge contract this offseason like so many other former ‘Cats have.

Maxey Continues Hot Start to Junior Season

Tyrese Maxey continued his blistering start to his third NBA season Monday night, scoring 28 points on 12/22 shooting in the Philadelphia 76ers’ 118-111 victory over the Washington Wizards. Over his last four games, Maxey is averaging 29.3 PPG on 57% shooting. Last Friday, Maxey lit up the Raptors with 44 points, his new career high and the second-most points scored in an NBA game this season.

The 76ers just picked up Maxey’s fourth-year option, signaling that they may throw all the money in the world at the 21-year-old rising star in the near future. On a team that features superstars such as former MVP James Harden and Joel Embiid, Maxey has been the story of Philadelphia’s young season. Maxey is currently 22nd in the league in scoring and seems to be rising up those ranks nightly.
