BBNBA: SGA Records First Career Double-Double in Last-Second Win Over Nets

RECAP
[31-39] Lakers - 123 @ [14-56] Knicks - 124
- Kevin Knox and his New York Knicks were riding an eight-game losing streak until LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers limped its way into Madison Square Garden. Knox posted his second efficient game out of his previous three, scoring 19 points on 8-14 shooting (3-5 from three) to go along with six rebounds. The Lakers had a shot to win the game at the buzzer, but LeBron was rejected on the attempted game-winner by, you guessed it, Mario-freaking-Hezonja.
- Rajon Rondo added three points, five rebounds, and five assists for the Lakers. I pray that no one was forced to watch this game.
[31-38] Hornets - 75 @ [33-36] Heat - 93
- Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Malik Monk played a combined 15 minutes, but contributed zero points and only three rebounds (all by MKG) for the Charlotte Hornets. The team from North Carolina continues to plummet into the dark depths of the bottom of the Eastern Conference, potentially doing everything it can to throw its hat into the Zion sweepstakes. 75 points in an NBA game is putrid (just ask Detroit, who did it twice in a row last week) and holding your opponent to only 93 points makes it that much more embarrassing. Monk barely plays at this point. MKG is lucky to see 10 minutes a game anymore. The Hornets are 3-8 in its last 11 games.
- But, hey, look at this! Bam Adebayo is playing some of the best basketball of his career! Adebayo put up 16 points and nine rebounds on 7-10 shooting while also piling up two steals and a block. The Miami center is averaging 12.1 points and 7.8 rebounds over his last 10 games (all starts) while shooting just slightly under 65 percent from the field. The Heat currrently hold a one-game lead over the Orlando Magic for the final playoff spot in the East.
Other notes
- Eric Bledsoe went for 12 points (5-14 shooting), five rebounds, six assists, and two steals for the Milwaukee Bucks, who fell to the Philadelphia 76ers, 130-125. The two stars of the game - Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid - did everything but disappoint. Antetokounmpo scored a career-high 52 points on only 26 shot attempts (he went 19-21 from the free-throw line) while Embiid registered a mere 40 points and 15 rebounds.
- In Sacramento, De'Aaron Fox led his Kings squad to a win 27-point win over the Chicago Bulls. Fox went for 17 points, four rebounds, and three assists while shooting 6-12 from the field and 2-4 from deep. Willie Cauley-Stein added nine points, seven rebounds, and five assists in 19 minutes.
- Karl-Anthony Towns finally had a "bad" game. Although, a bad game for KAT still results in a BBNBA-high 22 points. 10 rebounds, six assists, and two blocks, but it came on 8-22 shooting and with four turnovers. His Timberwolves team fell to the Houston Rockets by a score of 117-102.
- And finally, in Los Angeles, we have out player of the night in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who posted his first career double-double in a win over the Brooklyn Nets. SGA went for 14 points on 5-12 shooting (3-5 from three) and 10 assists with only two turnovers in 35 minutes. The Clippers nearly blew a 10-point lead with just over a minute left in the game as the Nets tied things up at 116 with five seconds left. But Lou Williams did what he's been doing for years now; hitting big-time shots. Williams drilled a damn-near 30-foot triple right at the buzzer that hit nothing but net to beat the Nets.
