BBNBA: Tyrese Maxey and Bam Adebayo go for 30

Alex Weberby:Alex Weber11/12/21

After Wednesday night’s incredible evening of BBNBA action, Thursday wasn’t quite as hectic, but still featured some season-best performances from our NBA ‘Cats. Check it out.

Tyrese Maxey scores 30-plus in back-to-back games

There was a lot of this in the best performance of Tyrese Maxey’s young NBA career:

The second-year guard followed up his 31-point outing the other night with 33 to lead the Sixers in a close loss to the Raptors. Philly’s third straight defeat, actually, and we can blame the absence of Joel Embiid for that.

Just reading Maxey’s stat line doesn’t do justice to his all-around performance. Although 33 points, 12-19 shooting, five assists, four rebounds and two blocks are terrific on paper in an NBA game.

Maxey did it all to get to 33. He couldn’t be stopped on his way to the rim when he attacked. He hit threes off the catch and off the dribble and worked in a few of his typical stop-and-pop midrange jumpers and free-throw-lane floaters. And his most impressive plays may have been on the two blocks, both of which came by swatting OG Annunoby from behind.

There were fireworks on nearly every one of his highlights from last night. Check them all out right here:

Bam & Herro shed fatigue and combine for 50 again

Two nights ago, Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro combined for 55 in an overtime loss to the Lakers — which got 51 from former ‘Cats Malik Monk and Anthony Davis in the 120-117 win.

But the Miami duo didn’t let the late-night loss keep them down. The next day they responded with 53 combined points in another three-point loss to a Los Angeles team. That’s 108 points combined in their last two NBA games.

Last night, Eric Bledsoe’s 21 points helped lead the Clippers over the Heat, marking his highest scoring output since the season-opener. The 6-foot-1 veteran guard also blocked three shots, had three rebounds and three assists in the win.

Bam and Tyler certainly did their part to try to pull Miami across the finish line. As the sixth ‘Cat to record a season-high in the last two days, Adebayo netted 30 points on 66% field goal shooting while Tyler Herro got his first start of the NBA season and racked up 23 points on 23 shots. Don’t know whether he’ll continue to start, but if he returns to the bench, Sixth Man of the Year is a very real possibility for Herro.

Brandon Boston goes for 23 in G-League

In a matchup between the G-League Ignite team and the Agua Caliente Clippers, Brandon Boston Jr. was the best 19-year-old on the court. Who could’ve seen that coming?

After recently being sent down to the NBA G-League, Boston showcased everything that made him a top-10 prospect out of high school. He slithered through the lane for finishes at the rim, hit threes off the dribble and used his combination of length and skill to out-do the lower-level competition.

Some filthy highlights from Brandon Boston, who no longer prefers to go by “BJ.”
