BBNFL Week 12: Wan'Dale Robinson has career day, Ray Davis returns kick for TD
On Sunday, Wan’Dale Robinson had a career-high in receiving yards before going into the locker room at halftime. Robinson hauled in six catches for 135 yards and a touchdown in the first half against the Lions as New York jumped out to a surprising early lead thanks to a pull-out-all-the-stops mentality. Robinson’s touchdown came off a trick play, a flea-flicker that left him wide open in the end zone. The play nearly fell apart, but third-string quarterback and first-string entertainer Jameis Winston avoided a sack and found Wan’Dale on a pass that traveled 55 yards through the air.
The Robinson touchdown play wasn’t the Giants’ only backyard football trickery. Winston also caught a touchdown pass himself, off a heave from the tight end, shaking a linebacker and breaking a tackle to spin into the endzone. Out of playoff contention with an interim head coach against one of the best teams in the NFL, the New York Football Giants took a ‘screw it’ approach to the game, and it nearly paid off. However, the better team ultimately came out victorious as the Detroit Lions pulled off the win in overtime.
Wan’Dale Robinson finished the game with nine catches on 13 targets for a career-high 157 yards. Robinson has been the Giants’ number one wideout since Malik Nabers went out with a season-ending injury, and the former Kentucky product has been nothing short of spectacular.
Ray Davis scores a touchdown in front of the KSR crew
The Kentucky Sports Radio, er, I mean NFL Cover Zero crew, got the full Bills Mafia treatment in Buffalo for Thursday Night Football, and former Kentucky running back Ray Davis made the trip worth it. Even though Davis did not record a rushing attempt, that didn’t stop him from getting into the endzone.

Davis returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown, pulling off a spin move along the way to add a little flair. It was the first kickoff return touchdown not only in his NFL career, but also he had never returned a kick for a touchdown throughout his five years in college.
Fellow Wildcats Deone Walker and Maxwell Hairston recorded three and one tackles, respectively, in front of the KSR crew. Drew, Matt, and the guys also got to meet up with players after the game, rounding out what looked like an incredible trip to Buffalo, despite the fact that the Texans upset the Bills.
Other BBNFL Notes:
- The week after setting the Jaguars franchise record for career sacks, Josh Hines-Allen picked up another one in Week 12 against the Cardinals. He also racked up 11 more QB pressures, putting him in a tie for 3rd place in the NFL.
- Brenden Bates earned his first career start at tight end for the Cleveland Browns. Bates played 21 snaps on the day, but did not receive any targets from the Browns’ newest starting quarterback, Shadeur Sanders.
- Trevin Wallace missed his second straight game with a shoulder injury for the Carolina Panthers, missing out on a chance to compete on Monday Night Football.
