Chris Rodriguez Jr. had one of the best highlights of Week 4 in the 2025 BBNFL season when he exploded for a 48-yard run for the Commanders on Sunday against the Falcons. C-Rod got his second-straight start at running back but ultimately split carries with Jacory Croskey-Merritt. They each had seven rushes, while Jeremy McNichols had two. Rodriguez led the trio in rushing yards with 59, but none more impressive than that 48-yard scamper, the longest of his career.

Commanders backs rushed 16 times for 109 yards, leaving the ball knowers at the equivalent of Washington Sports Radio asking why not run the ball more? We here at Kentucky Sports Radio agree.

Ultimately, Washington fell to Atlanta 34-27, but put up a good showing with backup quarterback Marcus Mariota getting the start with Jayden Daniels out with an injury. Daniels could very well return in Week 5, starting right alongside Rodriguez.

Dru Phillips records his second interception of the season

The man formally (and formerly) known as Andru Phillips has been unreal since he first stepped onto an NFL field last season. Through four games this year, he already has two interceptions and found himself the centerpiece of smack talk with one of the best wide receivers in the game.

On Sunday against the Chargers, Phillips almost took his second pick of the season back to the house, returning it over 50 yards before getting tripped up inside the five-yard line. The play set up a touchdown for the Giants as they pulled off the upset against the no longer undefeated Chargers.

On top of the highlight play, Dru Phillips locked up Chargers receivers all day. Justin Herbert targeted the receiver Phillips was guarding seven times, but the former Kentucky corner only allowed two receptions for 10 yards. He also graded out higher than any other New York Giant in the game.

And the second-year man is just getting started.

Other BBNFL Notes:

  • Josh Hines-Allen keeps racking up QB pressures. Kentucky’s sack leader tallied five more hurries on Sunday against the 49ers, giving him 23 on the year, good for third in the NFL. His Liam Coen-led Jags took home the win and are off to a 3-1 start.
  • Former Kentucky tight end, Brenden Bates, made his on-field debut for the Houston Texans on Sunday. Houston signed him off the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad just over a week ago and he’s already seeing action. Bates played six offensive snaps and 11 special teams snaps in the Texans’ blowout win over the Titans.
  • Darian Kinnard played an absolutely ridiculous 83 offensive snaps for Green Bay in their 40-40 tie in overtime on Sunday Night Football against the Cowboys. For comparison, Kinnard played 71 offensive snaps total in his first three years in the league, all last year with the Super Bowl Champion Eagles.
