BBNFL Week 6: Ray Davis scores his first TD of the season

Ray Davis has been criminally underused this season in Buffalo, but in true Ray Davis fashion, he still plays hard when he gets in the game. Davis did not record a single carry in the Bills’ upset loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football, but caught two passes, one of which he took 16 yards into the endzone by diving just inside the pylon.
Davis must love the spotlight of Monday Night Football. Last year, the Bills also played their Week 6 game on Monday, and Davis exploded for 20 carries, 97 yards, and added 55 yards through the air. All remain career-highs.
Starting running back James Cook is having a great year for Buffalo, but the coaching staff has to find a way to get Davis the ball more. His tough-style running is something the Bills don’t otherwise have (unless you count Josh Allen), and every time he is on the field, he proves he belongs.
Also, shoutout to fellow Buffalo Bills rookie, Deone Walker, who had five tackles, four of which were of the tackle-for-loss variety.
Wan’Dale Robinson scores his second touchdown of the season
Ray Davis wasn’t the only former Wildcat to find paydirt in Week 6. Wan’Dale Robinson kicked things off on Thursday Night with an impressive catch and run down the sideline into the endzone. It was his second touchdown of the season.

The pass came from former Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. You know, the one who lost to Kentucky last season. If you can’t beat them, join them, I suppose. Dart now has Robinson as his top wide receiver, and the two have formed a quick connection.
After the Giants’ upset victory over the Eagles, a game in which Dart targeted Robinson seven times for six catches and 87 yards, Wan’Dale spoke about this connection with the rookie quarterback, especially during scramble situations:
“Whenever he’s rolling around back there, the route’s kind of already over that I ran. It’s just get open again and try to be available for the quarterback.”
They might have something going up in New York.
Josh Hines-Allen’s son, Wesley, serves as honorary captain
Josh Hines-Allen did not fill up the stat sheet in the Jaguars’ loss to the Seahawks, but it was a Sunday he will never forget. His son, Wesley, who recently won his victory against leukemia, served as an honorary captain alongside his dad for the pregame coin flip.
It was the most heartwarming moment of Week 6 and possibly the season.
Hines-Allen posted about the moment on X:
Yesterday, Wesley stood with me at midfield as an honorary captain. At the beginning of the year, I didn’t know if we’d even get here.
When they said leukemia, everything else went silent. The game, the stats, none of it mattered anymore. The only thing I cared about was my son.
Watching Wesley fight changed me as a father. Kait, Julian, Vanessa, and I leaned on each other harder than we ever have. And as a captain, I learned what real leadership looks like. It’s about how you show up for your community, how you use your voice when it matters most, and how you turn your pain into purpose for others.
Wesley’s in full remission now. But so many families are still in their fight. That’s why Four One For All exists. Every Jaguars sack this season means $410 going to the organizations that help families like ours. Because every family deserves the same support that got us through.
To the parents, siblings, and caregivers currently sitting in treatment rooms: you’re not alone.
To the kids still fighting: keep pushing. Wesley did it. You can too.
Other BBNFL Notes
- Darian Kinnard appears to have lost his job during the Green Bay Packers’ bye week. After playing a career-high 83 snaps in Week 4, Kinnard only played five special teams snaps in the Packers’ victory over the struggling Cincinnati Bengals. He spent most of the game on the sideline, probably thinking about his back-to-back-to-back Super Bowl victories.
- While Wan’Dale Robinson was scoring touchdowns for New York, Dru Phillips came up with a big fumble recovery for the G-Men. The second-year man has really exploded on the scene in the NFL and makes his presence felt every week.
- Congrats to Za’Darius Smith on his surprise mid-season retirement. They say, when you know, you know, and that seemed true for the original Kentucky Big Z. He played a few games for the Eagles after starting the season as a free agent, but it sounds like his heart (or body) wasn’t fully there. Hats off to 11 great years. Enjoy retirement!
