YONCE   Let me ask you a question are you ready okay here it goes: Do you like big gifts more or small gifts more? Me, I like big gifts more because bigger is better. Duh. And that's why I was going to dedicate the News and Views tonight to Carol Martin "Bill" Gatton, who on Thursday donated $20 million dollars (the largest gift in school history) to the UK student center expansion project.   BUUUUUT... then I found out it was Beyonce's birthday today. Upon asking every girl everywhere what Beyonce meant to them, I quickly found out that Beyonce is not how you refer to her. It's YONCE.  After I got that corrected, all of them said some form of  "ohmygah YONCE's everything ohmygah everything." I don't completely understand what that means because it's not an actual sentence, but I think it means the ladies like her quite a bit.  As we here at KSR like to give the ladies what they want, the ladies get the News and Views devoted to their "everything", BeYonce.   So driver roll up the partition please, it's time for some news... and some views. I have several REPORTS TO REPORT.   -TODAY'S UK ATHLETE SIZE REPORT UK Hoops freshman Ivana Jakubcova is still tall.   BvbcK0nIcAAIdOb   UK Football freshman Matt Elam is still big. [caption id="attachment_164574" align="alignleft" width="600"]Photo by UK Athletics Photo by UK Athletics[/caption]   This ends TODAY'S UK ATHLETE SIZE REPORT. Thank you.   -TODAY'S UK SPORTS UNIFORM REPORT FOOTBALL: Tyler took a look back to the game UK played against Ohio 10 years ago where we lost 28-16 wearing alternate uniforms. We think UK may have something up the sleeve uniform wise for Saturday... barker-grayunis                     If you are superstitious this might worry you. However, keep in mind that Matt Elam was 8 years old when that game happened. He was probably still big, but he was 8. He probably has no idea that game happened, but I bet he and his fellow players like the idea of cool alternate uniforms.   MEN'S BASKETBALL:  2014Cats Pictured above you can see the UK basketball team pictured in their new uniforms with Bill "Big Gift" Gatton. This ends TODAY'S UK SPORTS UNIFORM REPORT. Thank you.   -TODAY'S UK FOOTBALL PRACTICE REPORT   -Bad news first. It was announced today that freshman linebacker Kobie Walker will have shoulder surgery and will miss the season. Walker came to UK with the shoulder injury and should be ready for spring practice next year. I bet he'll stop going around shouting his name and doing this. (*This is not really him.*) (*Or is it?*)   -Good news second. Coach Stoops really liked how his team practiced this week. He said “I hope we have the same eagerness to get out there and play, the same enthusiasm, and I expect that we will. We’ve had a great week of practice. I just don’t want any let down mentally.” A young gentleman by the name of Nicholas Roush came by a little bit ago and dropped this practice report in our laps. He also had chest hair flowing out of an unbuttoned hawaiian shirt at a tailgate last year. That last sentence was free of charge.   This ends TODAY'S FOOTBALL PRACTICE REPORT. Thank you.   -TODAY'S UK BASKETBALL RECRUITING REPORT -Coach Cal will be getting in the car plane next week and jetting around the country to visit with his main targets for the 2015 recruiting class. Because you are you and you are awesome, I'll share with you his itinerary.

Tuesday, September 9: Jaylen Brown, Marietta, Georgia

Brown is the #2 player in the 2015 class and will likely wait until the spring to make his decision. When spring rolls around he will make an announcement to let us know when he will make his announcement about the date of his upcoming announcement. Since next year’s roster won’t become clear until after the season is over, Brown waiting until the spring to make his choice is a plus for UK.

Thursday, September 11: Brandon Ingram, Kinston, North Carolina

Next, Cal will head to Tarheel country to see Brandon Ingram, considered the 4th best small forward in the 2015 class. Ingram recently narrowed his list to six: Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, UCLA, and NC State. Duke and UNC have long been considered the favorites for Ingram, but never count Calipari out. Ingram will see Roy Williams on Tuesday, Bill Self on Wednesday, then Cal, followed by UCLA assistant David Grace on Friday.

Saturday, September 13: Stephen Zimmerman, Las Vegas, Nevada

Finally, Cal will head to Vegas to check in on Stephen Zimmerman, considered the third best center in the 2015 class. His family will host UNLV on Tuesday (which is also Stephen’s birthday so you should TOTALLY tweet him), Arizona on Wednesday, North Carolina on Thursday, Cal on Saturday, Kansas on September 15, UCLA on September 16, and Indiana on September 18.

All three recruits will visit UK for Big Blue Madness. I think you've heard of it.

ThonMaker

-Adam Zagoria reported that Thon Maker, currently the #1 player in the class of 2016, and his brother may be considering a move to Athlete Institute in Canada or Hopewell Academy in North Carolina. The ever changing crystal ball favors Kansas for his services whenever he decides to make the decision, but I wouldn't count Cal out. Would you?

This ends TODAY'S UK BASKETBALL RECRUITING REPORT. Thank you.

-TODAY'S "Is Coach K a windowlicker?" STATUS REPORT

Coach K's windowlicker status is a solid "MAYBE" today because he said some really nice things about Anthony Davis. However, it's not all that difficult to say nice things about Anthony Davis and Coach K is still the head coach at Duke.

Below is his quote to The Sporting News:

“Anthony is one of the best players in the world,” coach Mike Krzyzewski said. “We saw that developing in the (2012) Olympics, and I think him being around all those great players helped him. Monty has done a terrific job coaching him. He’s not only coached him, but he’s developed a great relationship with him.”

This ends TODAY'S "Is Coach K a windowlicker?" STATUS REPORT. Thank you.

As we conclude this edition of BeYonce's News and Views, be forewarned should you find yourself Drunk in Love at the tailgate on Saturday. She'll probably want you to put a ring on it.

Tune into the radio show in the morning to hear Matt, Ryan, and Jared Lorenzen talk about the Ohio game and other random nonsense.
