Big Friday Night in the Ville

by:Matt Jones12/20/08
cats It was a heck of a night to be a UK fan in the Ville. Open practice at Freedom Hall and a great game with Jon Hood at The King of the Bluegrass. Lots of good stuff, and some notes.... --- As Beisner wrote earlier, the Cats practiced before about 6,000 at Freedom Hall as they get ready for Appalachian State. It was an upbeat practice and the biggest news is that Ramon Harris is back with the team and playing normally. He may play tomorrow, but if not he will be back for the next game. Big news for the young man and this team. --- I spent the night watching Jon Hood and Madisonville play in Louisville. Hood was amazing, scoring 36 points and grabbing 13 boards, showcasing why he will be a great player at UK. His team lost to PRP by one point and Hood did miss a crucial free throw in the last 20 seconds. Nevertheless, he is a star in the making and easily won the eyes of the viewers when compared to Louisville commit Peyton Siva, who played earlier in the night. It was a HUGE night of news and we will get more to it, and the game of Hood, in a King of the Bluegrass full report that I will do tomorrow night. --- In somewhat bad news (to me at least), Monte Merrick, the kicker from Bell County, committed to Western Kentucky. I still think the Cats need a quality kicker and I love a Cat from my home county, but Merrick decided he could wait for a UK offer no more, so he has become a Hilltopper. More all day as we get Appalachian State. I will be at the King of the Bluegrass again tomorrow and I hope it is like tonight.....a CAPACITY crowd, lots of excitement and great play. Come out if you can.
