BJ Boston sets official visit to Kentucky, adds Oregon to final list

While most high-level basketball recruits gradually decrease their final lists more and more before ultimately making a decision, 2020 five-star shooting guard B.J. Boston has actually added one more school to the table. Originally down to a final-four of Kentucky, Duke, Florida, and Auburn, the 6-foot-6 prospect out of Norcross, GA will now consider the Oregon Ducks, as well. “Oregon just offered me, too, like two weeks ago,” Boston told a crowd of media members at Peach Jam on Wednesday evening. “I'll probably add them [to my list] and make it a final five.” In a quick one-two punch of breaking news, Boston also added that he has scheduled an official visit to Kentucky for the end of the month, his only other planned recruiting trip for right now. “I am going to take an official to Kentucky on July 25 and 26," the five-star guard said. "I'm looking forward to seeing how they are coached, how they work, just everything.” Outside of the Wildcats, Boston broke down each of his other finalists and why he decided to include them on his final list: Duke: “It is good with them. Coach K and Coach (Jon) Scheyer, they are all hitting me up," he said. "He is good dude, always on it. He's always good to talk to whenever I need to. They see me as someone just going out there and playing my game and doing what I do best." Florida: “Mike White, he just said that they need another freshman to come in and step up," he said. "They are going to be good. ... I think Tre [Mann] and Scottie [Lewis] are going to be really good this year." Oregon: “They want me, obviously, they said it is a good program," he said. "They run-and-gun, and I just like that type of play.” Auburn: “They're good, [they tell me] to come in and rock out and do what I do best,” he said. Back at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, VA last month, Boston told KSR that after teaming up with him and developing chemistry throughout the week at camp, he had discussed playing in college together with 2020 five-star point guard Daishen Nix. “Our chemistry is developing really good, he’s a pass-first point guard,” the Norcross native said of Nix at the time. “I really like that when I’m playing. We connected from the time we first stepped on the court together.” At Peach Jam, Boston added that he had also talked to 2021 top-five prospect and reclassification candidate Terrence Clarke about playing together at the college level, also adding that it's an obvious possibility that he teams up with AAU teammate and fellow five-star guard Sharife Cooper, as well. “Probably Terrence Clarke, that is my guy," Boston told KSR. "I talk to him probably two days out of the week. ... (And Sharife Cooper) too, that's my brother. I think we have good chemistry and play good together.” While Boston himself has said on multiple occasions that he'll likely pull the trigger on a decision whenever he's ready and that it could happen at any moment, he said on Wednesday that he is still uncertain of a specific timeline. Though he's comfortable in his final list of schools in contention, he genuinely has no clue on when he'll be taking that next step. When it's time, he'll know it's time. "I think we're just trying to see where I best fit at," he said. "I don't know what I want to do, I'm just taking it one day at a time." [mobile_ad]
