Body Cam Footage Shows Kentucky Powerball Winner’s Wild Arrest in Florida

Remember James Farthing, the 50-year-old Georgetown, Ky. man who won $167.3 million in the Powerball back in April and was arrested just one day later in Florida? Yesterday, body cam footage was released of the moment a Florida deputy captured Farthing, and it’s even wilder than you would expect.
It all went down on April 29 at the TradeWinds Resort in St. Pete Beach, where Farthing allegedly punched a hotel guest at the lobby bar after the man didn’t believe Farthing had won the lottery, a ticket he purchased at the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop in Georgetown. When the deputy reported to the scene, he tried to break up a scuffle between the two, and Farthing, aiming for the guy he was brawling with, kicked the deputy in the head instead.
“I just got kicked,” the deputy said into the radio as hotel security pinned Farthing against a wall.

When the deputy confronted him, Farthing tried to make a run for it. He didn’t make it far after the deputy tased him. All the while, Farthing’s girlfriend, Jacqueline Fightmaster, was trying to fight other patrons at the bar, according to the police report. She “appeared very intoxicated and was yelling, screaming, and making incoherent statements.”
Farthing was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, a felony, and two misdemeanor counts. Fightmaster was arrested for disorderly intoxication. According to court records, he remains free on bond while awaiting trial. This video certainly won’t help his case.
