Brand New Week: Recruiting Info, and the Last Bastion of Faith

by:Corey Nichols03/11/13
LovelyDay Seems like this song has been running through my head since Saturday afternoon. Lost in the hubbub that was the Florida win, was news that even in the midst of possibly the most crucial regular-season crunch of his Kentucky tenure, Calipari is always busy recruiting. With the season on the line and Rupp likely at it's best, 5 Star 2014 power forward Trey Lyles was on campus for an unofficial visit.  Lyles is projected by ESPN as the number one power foward, and fourth overall player from the 2014 class. Rivals' recruiting notes say that "[a] fourth unofficial visit from Trey Lyles makes the Wildcats seem like the favorite..."  What exactly can we look forward to in Trey?  Have a look for yourself. Lyles, should he commit, would pair up with Karl Towns, Jr., fresh off a state championship, to make possibly the best freshman frontcourt duo college ball has seen in a long time.  Lyles also has offers from Duke, Florida, Louisville, UCLA, and Butler. That said, the sooner Lyles commits, the better, as Kentucky is currently the prohibitive favorite. Meanwhile, after last week's heartbreaking loss to Georgia, but before the bolstering Gator win, SportsNation asked America whether they thought Kentucky would make the tourney.  One state unanimously said yes: KentuckyTourneyPoll That's right, Montana held the faith, even when Kentucky did not.  And last week, I would have called Montana crazy.  And, considering it was just one guy voting in Montana, and that guy was probably this guy, I wouldn't move out there just yet. Stick around all day, as this week is fresh with hope and expectation.  We'll talk basketball, the spring game, and feeling sorry for Brandon Knight.  Has all the makings of a great day.
