Brandon Knight Featured in NBA's Top Dunk of the Decade

Well, sort of.

The NBA released its list of top 100 dunks of the decade earlier this week and a familiar face was a key figure in the best dunk of the last 10 years, but for all the wrong reasons.

Former Kentucky guard and a one-time member of the Detroit Pistons, Brandon Knight, was buried alive on March 10, 2013 on live television inside a packed Staples Center.

Who remembers this?

Despite being confirmed dead on the sight of the incident, Knight was still a good sport about being put on a poster.

The Los Angeles Clippers were in peak “Lob City” form with Blake Griffin and Jordan bouncing around for perfectly placed Chris Paul alley-oops, and Knight was hardly the only Clippers foe to find himself as the top highlight of Sportscenter. The NBA’s official top-100 video is basically Griffin jumping onto another human’s head 60 times.

But Knight’s was epic. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time and it cost him some internet points. In fact, he’s been tabbed one of the unluckiest players in the NBA and its hard to argue with the evidence. He was actually on the cusp of a few breakout seasons before this dunk and even put up a couple of All-Star worthy seasons, although he was never selected. A slew of injuries in the early-to-middle stages of the decade didn’t do him any favors, either.

The Big Blue Nation will always remember Knight as the one who hit the go-ahead game-winning shot agaisnt Ohio State in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, but he was on the losing side of an all-time dunk by an all-time dunker.
