Brandon Knight has found a home in a foreign land.

After the Cleveland Cavaliers shipped Knight to Detroit in early 2020, the former Kentucky star has struggled to find a permanent place in the NBA. He played in nine contests as a Piston, made a five-game memory lane with the Dallas Mavericks, and wandered without an NBA team for nearly a year.

Finally, on March 14, Knight signed with the Quebradillas Pirates. He hasn’t looked back since. The 6-foot-2 guard leads the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN), the top sector of Puerto Rico basketball, in scoring with 24.9 points per game.

Knight solidified his position atop the Puerto Rican ladder on May 4 in a spectacular showing against Arecibo. The once-Wildcat dropped 50 points while shooting 14/21 (66%) from the field and 7/13 (53%) from beyond the arc.

Knight isn’t just a diamond atop a pile of coal. Complementing his perimeter game, former NBA All-Defensive Team member Hassan Whiteside dominates the post. The monstrous forward leads the BSN with 14.2 boards per outing, nearly three rebounds more than the next closest player.

Knight and Whiteside hope to end a 10-year championship drought for the Pirates. However, the competition is stiff. Other teams in the competitive league boast other former NBA talent such as Norris Cole and Zavier Simpson.

So, if there isn’t enough former Cats action in the NBA Playoffs for you, tune into the Quebradillas Pirates. You’ll see a former top Wildcat at the top of his game.
