J.D. PicKell's Rules for the Transfer Portal

Kentucky football is scheduled to have a busy weekend. Michigan cornerback transfer DJ Waller Jr. is currently on campus for an official visit. The Wildcats just wrapped up a visit with UCLA quarterback transfer Collin Schlee. Louisville tailback transfer Peny Boone also visited Lexington this weekend. Transfer recruiting is picking up steam quickly for the Wildcats.

Decisions are going to start happening quickly. A defensive line target came off the board on Thursday night when FCS transfer Brandon Lane committed to Michigan State.

Following a mid-week visit to East Lansing, Brandon Lane announced his commitment to play in the Big Ten for new head coach Jonathan Smith. The defensive tackle transfer spent the last two seasons playing for Stephen F. Austin after beginning his career at South Dakota State. The 300-pound defensive lineman recorded 45 tackles last season.

Kentucky showed some early interest in the FCS transfer but never got Brandon Lane on campus for a visit. The defensive tackle only made visit trips to Washington and Michigan State with the latter winning a head-to-head Big Ten recruiting battle.

Expect the Wildcats to stay in the transfer defensive tackle market after kicking the tires on Brandon Lane and hosting Rutgers transfer Rene Konga for a visit.
