Budding filmmaker pro-tip: Never let anyone publish a cover story calling you "The Next Spielberg." It will lead nowhere good.[/caption]
This gloriously douchetastic
interview with the man who
gave the world She's All That popped up on
i09 recently, and it's just too good not to share. In it, M. Night defends his movie
The Last Airbender (2010) by saying that critics just don't understand his "European pacing." Cool story, bro.
If you haven't seen the animated series
Avatar: The Last Airbender,
then I don't understand how you're using your life watch it immediately. You'll realize that one of the reasons people hate Shyamalan's adaptation (aside from the fact that it's awful in every way a movie can be) is that, while the original is about as good as t.v. series get, with appropriate portions of comedy, heart, action, and character, M. Night somehow managed to whiff on every single thing that made it great. Actually, after watching the self-absorbed toolbaggery on display in this interview, I can sorta see why.
Luckily though, we can all wash the taste of this interview out of our mouths with new episodes of
The Legend of Korra, the awesome follow-up to the original series, starting
tomorrow night at
7 pm on
Nickelodeon.
