The recruitment of Brian Robinson featured many twists and turns. After an eventful summer, the Wildcats outlasted the competition to secure another commitment from a Blue Chip prospect in Ohio.

Brian Robinson is one of the best EDGE rushers in the country. The four-star prospect is a 6-foot-5, 228-pound work horse. He’s one of the 10 best players at his position and the No. 131 overall prospect in the country, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He is just the third Top 150 defensive player to commit to Mark Stoops at Kentucky.

Another Youngstown Win for Kentucky

Kentucky’s Youngstown connections worked wonders in the recruitment of Brian Robinson. Vince Marrow began recruiting the talented EDGE rusher at a young age. He camped in Lexington in the summer of 2022, then made numerous visits to Kentucky, including an official visit over the summer. He also officially visited Michigan and Penn State, but Marrow and Mark Stoops left a lasting impression.

“When I walk into Kentucky, it’s like I’m home because there’s so many Youngstown (Ohio) coaches there, so many Youngstown people there,” Brian Robinson told On3. “When I walk into Kentucky, it’s not even football. It’s like, ‘Hey, how are you doing B-Rob?’ They’re saying they can help me with anything I need and to make myself at home. They ask me if there are any questions they can answer and anything I need that I don’t understand. They’re just super welcoming.”

It’s the latest significant Kentucky football recruiting win for Brad White‘s defense, who is loading up on talent in the front seven. In the last two weeks the Wildcats have added three-star linebacker Devin Smith, four-star EDGE Jacob Smith and four-star defensive lineman Jerod Smith to Kentucky’s top 25 2024 recruiting class.

What Brian Robinson is bringing to Lexington

A year ago Brian Robinson camped at Kentucky and competed against the older guys, like current Kentucky offensive tackle Malachi Wood. During those individual drills he showed some raw talent, flashing plenty of potential. The person that was on campus this weekend does not look like the same person that was on campus a year ago.

A workout warrior, Brian Robinson trained at Bryan Station High School during his official visit. The once baby-faced prospect has transformed his body, and the transformation is not complete.

Brad White is the perfect person to take his game to the next level. The tools are there, they just need refinement. An ideal edge-setter in the run game with his size, the ceiling is the roof for Brian Robinson at Kentucky.
