One of the most recognizable names in basketball will not remain in the college ranks. According to Shams Charania, Bronny James is expected to keep his name in the 2024 NBA Draft.

There have been high expectations for LeBron James Jr. since his father named him. For a time, it seemed as though those expectations were too lofty. Ahead of his final season of prep ball, he proved he could play at a high level.

A 6-foot-4 guard, Bronny James became a McDonald’s All-American thanks to his extended range from downtown and his ability to defend multiple positions. The archetype of a 3-and-D role player, he made headlines and eventually landed at USC. That’s when adversity struck.

Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest during preseason training with the Trojans. During his road to recovery, he underwent a procedure to repair a congenital heart defect and eventually debuted with USC in December. The setback put him behind the 8-ball in his development, averaging only 4.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in 19.4 minutes per game.

Despite the setback, James has been medically cleared by the NBA’s Fitness to Play Panel, according to ESPN. This week he will participate in 5-on-5 scrimmages at the NBA Combine.

Now that Bronny is officially ready to move on to the next level, Hot Take Artists will spend the summer months debating where he will be taken in the NBA Draft. It’s not just because this is a historically weak draft. Which team picks him may determine where his famous father finishes his legendary playing career. Prepare for a three-ring circus to follow his next move in the coming months.
