BTI's Rants and Ramblings: 5 reasons Kentucky WILL NOT lose to Jacksonville State

by: Bryan1310/19/11
1. Kentucky after bye weeks into non-conference games 2009: Louisville (31-27) 2008: Western Kentucky (41-3) 2004: Indiana (51-32) 2001: Indiana (15-26) 1997: Indiana (49-7) 1996: Indiana (3-0) Kentucky is 5-1 in non-conference games in the last 20 seasons following a bye week. And none of those game against a 1-AA opponent.  The 1996 team was terrible.  The 2004 team was terrible.    2. This year's team, as bad as they have stunk, still have won their 2 easiest games by double digits. WKU 14-3 Central Michigan 27-14 Remember those 2 games? I know you have tried to forget. But Kentucky played AWFUL in both those games. Horrible. Terrible. Pitiful. And in both games, they won by double digits. Despite playing as poorly as they could, they still beat both of those 1-A opponents by double figures. And despite how much people would love to prop up Jacksonville State as world beaters, they are not better than WKU or CMU. They just are not. Kentucky is winning this game by 10+ points. 3. There is a difference between last year's Ole Miss game and this year's Kentucky game A lot of people are using Jacksonville State's win over Ole Miss as proof that Kentucky will lose Saturday. Well guess what, that game is not this game. First, that game was the first game of the season, meaning that Jacksonville State caught Ole Miss off-guard. Kentucky will be well aware that this team can compete with them if UK doesn't show up. There will be no surprise for UK. Second, people forget that Ole Miss led that game 31-10 at halftime. Again, perfect letdown opportunity. UK won't score 31 points, so that goes out the window. 4. 1-AA teams can't score against 1-A teams The MOST a 1-AA team has ever scored against UK is 29, and in 6 of the last 10 games against 1-AA teams, the opponent has scored less than 14. If Jacksonville State scores in the 20's on Saturday, I will be STUNNED. Plus, if there is a sorta, kinda, maybe a strength besides punting, it would be defense. I am not saying that UK's offense will put up 50 points, but their defense will be the winning factor in this game. 5. Jacksonville State lost to a 3-4 Chattanooga team......by 3 touchdowns. Everybody want to use the "we lost to a terrible Louisville team" and "we barely beat a terrible WKU team" as reasons that Kentucky will lose.  Well, Jacksonville State lost big to a mediocre Mocs team.  They gave up over 500 yards to that team.  They are giving up 25 points per game against 1-AA competition.  They have not played a 1-A team yet, so they have not seen the size and speed of Kentucky.    Kentucky 28, Jacksonville State 10 (BTI LOCK OF THE YEAR!!!)
