Calipari Starting The Week Off In Kansas; The Week Ahead

by:Dustin Rumbaugh04/19/10
Fonda Ellis, the mother of 2012 stud Perry Ellis, is pretty excited for what's coming for her son tonight, and for good reason. Perry will be getting visits from some of the biggest names in college basketball, including UK's staff.  On top of Calipari and his crew, Ellis also said that Kansas' Bill Self, Kansas State's Frank Martin, Stanford's Johnny Dawkins and Wichita State's Gregg Marshall will be attendance as well. It's no secret that Kentucky has a strong interest in Perry. They've made him one of their major targets of the 2012 class and have made visits to see Ellis multiple times. Perry's talent speaks for itself but with the above list of coaches all making trips to see Ellis, I don't think there's any question who one of the top talents in 2012 will be. --------------------------------- This week is going to be another exciting one for Kentucky. There should be an high impact decision and we should also learn a little more about what our 2010 class may end up looking like when all is said and done. Marquis Teague: Marquis is scheduled to make his decision known this Thursday at a press conference at his high school. The battle for Teague's services still seems to be going on as we speak. UK has made a great late push but UL is prepared to fight back. If I were you, I would take a three-sided dice, put UK/UL/Postponed on each side and give it a roll. It seems to be just that close. CJ Leslie: Leslie's trip to Florida was canceled this weekend and it doesn't seem like he has any plans for rescheduling. Leslie has also told reporters in the past that he would like to make a trip to UConn before deciding but that trip hasn't been finalized yet either. A decision is expected in the coming couple of weeks and you'd be smart to believe that UK and NC State will be the major players. Leslie's odds makers are probably scratching their heads much like Teague's as it seems that there's a lot of wavering going on in this one too. Terrence Jones: No visit date has been set yet for Jones but if he sticks to his guns with a press conference set for April 23rd or 30th, the visit would have to occur this week or next. He does have one official visit left to use. Things are starting to look much more serious between Jones and Kansas and you still have to wonder what all of this means in terms of Terrence Ross as well. After the visit, we should get a better idea of where Jones stands but any good feelings between Jones and UK have to be put on hold for awhile, at least until this Kansas situation irons out. Zach Peters: If the name rings a bell, its because you remember him visiting Lexington for the UK-Arkansas game this fall along with his close friend Julius Randle. Coming out of nowhere, Peters, a 2012 PF, is set to announce his final decision this Wednesday according to Rivals. He's also taken visits to Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, North Carolina and Georgia Tech. More to come on him as we figure out exactly what's going down...
