Cats Start Strong, Get Bored, Get Scared, Still Win 66-60

by:Will Lentz01/29/11

In a lot of ways this game almost mirrored the one in Athens.  The home team jumped out to a lead, only to see the visitors chip away at it in the second half, but they hang on to win by a margin of 6-7 points.  The Cats jumped ahead from the get go and had a strong first half – even looking like a final four team at times.  But they responded to increased bulldog intensity with a pretty poor effort in the second half and made the game far closer than it should have been.  A combination of increased offensive flow and defensive intensity got Georgia back into the game, but clutch plays from Knight and free throws from Liggins and Lamb – not to mention poor play from GA’s Thompkins – helped seal the deal for the Cats.  I’ll take the win, but I’ll feel guilty about doing it. The home streak says alive.

Stay tuned for more all night.
