Wins on Saturdays are built on sweat in the summer. The Kentucky football program is putting in the sweat equity this offseason to correct course following a 4-8 2024 campaign.

Spring practice provided a preview of what we may see in the fall, but the entire roster was not complete until the team arrived in Lexington for summer workouts in early June. Most of the workouts are just that, strength and conditioning.

However, quarterbacks and wide receivers are putting in extra work during downtime to create chemistry. The Wildcats also get a chance to spend time with their coaches. In recent years, college football opened the floodgates for summer OTAs where teams host non-padded practices. Instead of taking 3-4 days to get acclimated with practice plans during fall camp, the OTAs expedite the process.

Camera crews were inside the Joe Craft Football Training Facility to give Big Blue Nation a brief look at what the Wildcats are doing during these OTA sessions. It’s the first time we’ve seen WR Hardley Gilmore in a uniform since he returned to Kentucky after spending the spring semester at Nebraska. RB Seth McGowan arrived this month and his explosiveness has turned heads. During the brief highlight reel, you’ll also get to see new TE Elijah Brown make a nice one-handed catch.

Roster Numbers for Kentucky Spring Transfer Portal Additions

The clip from the summer OTAs gave us our first look at a few Wildcats in their practice jerseys. Kentucky welcomed in seven players during the spring transfer portal window. Here’s what numbers they will be rocking on Saturdays this fall at Kroger Field.

3 — RB Seth McGowan
17 — WR Hardley Gilmore IV
34 — EDGE Lorenzo Cowan
70 — OL Rob Fogler
78 — OL Cam Jones
80 — WR Ashton Cozart
85 — TE Elijah Brown
