Chin Coleman visiting Kentucky signees, targets in Miami

Kentucky is back on the recruiting trail, this time checking out a pair of signees and future targets, sources tell KSR.

Assistant coach Chin Coleman is flying down to Miami on Wednesday to check out the highly anticipated matchup between Camden High School (NJ) and Christopher Columbus High School (FL), one featuring a handful of blue-chip prospects.

The headliners? Kentucky five-star signees DJ Wagner and Aaron Bradshaw, along with rising junior standout Billy Richmond — the program’s newest offer — for Camden. They’ll face off against 2025 five-star prospects Cameron Boozer and Cayden Boozer, twin sons of former NBA star Carlos Boozer.

Wagner and Bradshaw both signed with the Wildcats during the early signing period, two of the program’s top pieces in its top-ranked recruiting class in 2023. Both top-10 prospects, the former is rated as the No. 1 combo guard in the nation while the latter is the No. 1 center. Wagner publicly announced his commitment at the time of his signing, while Bradshaw chose the Wildcats leading up to his official visit to Lexington prior to Big Blue Madness in October. Both are set to arrive on campus this summer.

As for Richmond, the 6-foot-5 shooting guard in the class of 2024 is the son of former Memphis guard Billy Richmond Jr., who played for John Calipari from 2002-04. He started his career at Vanderbilt, averaging 8.8 points in 23.3 minutes per contest as a freshman. He then transferred to Memphis for his final two seasons of college basketball, averaging a combined 7.7 points in 21.9 minutes per game.

It’s the latest example of Calipari pursuing the son of a former player. Kareem Watkins — stepson of former Memphis star Dajuan Wagner Sr. — was the first, walking on in 2020. Kentucky then signed Adou Thiero, the son of former Memphis big Almamy Thiero, this past recruiting cycle. And now there’s Wagner Sr.’s son, D.J., one of the top prospects in the class of 2023.

As for the Boozer twins, Cameron is rated as the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Player Rankings, while Cayden is ranked No. 15 overall. The former, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound power forward, is ranked No. 1 at his position, while the latter — 6-foot-3, 190 pounds — is the No. 2 point guard in the sophomore class.

The standout twin prospects have received offers from Duke, Michigan, Florida State, Miami (FL) and Memphis, among others. Their dad was a former star for the Blue Devils from 1999-2002. For that reason, Duke is seen as a serious early contender for the five-star duo, but that doesn’t mean other schools aren’t throwing their hats in the ring hoping to make a push. Kentucky is among them.

Kentucky may be in the midst of its current season, but that doesn’t mean the staff is ever content when it comes to recruiting. Back on the road they go.
