You’ve seen Chris Rodriguez run and tomorrow you can see his arm when he throws out the first pitch for the Wild Health Genomes, Lexington’s new minor league baseball team. The Genomes begin their home campaign at Wild Health Field tomorrow night and C-Rod will throw out the ceremonial first pitch as part of the Opening Night celebration in Lexington.

In addition to Rodriguez’s special guest appearance, the Genomes will offer free hot dogs as they host the Charleston Dirty Birds at 6:35 PM.

The weather forecast is not great.

Who are the Genomes?

The Wild Heath Genomes were announced earlier this year as the new team in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. One of two tenants in the newly-renovated Wild Health Field (formerly known as Whitaker Bank Ball Park), the Genomes share a home field and the 10-team Atlantic League with the Lexington Legends. The Genomes and Legends are two of the five clubs in the Atlantic League’s South Division.

Heading into Tuesday night’s home opener, the Genomes are already 2-8 on the inaugural season with a seven-game losing streak just waiting to get snapped.
