Kentucky football is not garnering a ton of national attention at the start of the 2025 college football season. Thanks to the schedule, the Wildcats will steal the spotlight in week two. Kentucky-Ole Miss is the first game of the 2025 SEC season, putting the Cats in a prime TV slot on ABC.

The first SEC game of the year is worth talking about and merits a pick from the College GameDay panel. As you might suspect, there aren’t too many fans on the ESPN set of Mark Stoops’ Wildcats.

“I think Ole Miss wins, but Kentucky covers. It’s going to be a low-scoring game,” said Desmond Howard.

Former Alabama head coach Nick Saban believes the Ole Miss offense will be too much for Kentucky to keep up. Kirk Herbstreit knows this series stays close, but wasn’t willing to take the Cats; neither was Pat McAfee.

“I don’t think this one’s close, even though Kentucky has been a nemesis for them,” said McAfee.

There was one brave soul on the stage. Trae Young once considered playing for John Calipari at Kentucky, but ultimately chose to suit up for the Oklahoma Sooners. The NBA All-Star had a basketball flavor to his College GameDay picks, but that’s not the only reason he’s calling for Kentucky to upset Ole Miss.

“They’ve been Ole Miss’ kryptonite these past few years. Even when they’ve had better teams in previous years, Kentucky still found a way to win,” said Young. “And I’m a big Bob Stoops guy. Mark Stoops is over there, so that’s who I’m rolling with.”

Will Young look like a genius or a dingus? Hopefully, he’s taking a victory lap on Saturday night after this appearance on College GameDay.
