Confession: I like Donovan Mitchell

I like Donovan Mitchell. There, I said it. It feels good to let it out so I no longer have to live with that vicious secret hidden inside me. By opening up to all of you, I hope I can find someone like me: a Kentucky fan who admires Donovan Mitchell and what he is doing to the NBA. Truth be told, though, I secretly liked (tolerated is probably a better word) Donovan Mitchell at Louisville. I mentioned it a couple times back when he was still UK's rival, but now I can openly root for him without selling my soul to the devil. It's especially easy to root for him and the Utah Jazz after his playoff series against Russell Westbrook, who, as many of you know, I had a brief stint of beef with. I was more than happy to see Mitchell send him home for the summer. But even with his 28.5 points per game against the Thunder in his first career playoff series, I was still afraid to share my dark secret. What would my fellow UK fans say about me? Would people stop reading KSR? Am I a closet Louisville fan? Those questions and many others raced through my mind. The potential backlash could be devastating, so I held onto my secret a little longer. And then last night happened. Donovan dunked all over the Rockets and stole Game 2 in Houston. Today, he's the talk of the league. If there's ever a time to admit to being a Mitchell fan, it's right now. People should understand. So I'm airing it out: I like Donovan Mitchell, a former University of Louisville Cardinal. I feel better now. Thanks for listening. [mobile_ad]
