Corey Hart's Tuesday Morning Wakeup

Good morning, KentuckySportsRadio.com readers. Today is a big day for us here at the office as we celebrate the 54th birthday of Corey Hart, singer of some of our favorite songs.

Take for instance his “Sunglasses At Night” hit of ’84.  “Don’t switch the blade on the guy in shades,” he taught us. “Oh no.”

Then came “Never Surrender” a year later. It was released a little bit before I was born, but I bet I would’ve been singing it at the top of my lungs if I could’ve sang at the time.

Never surrender, y’all.

Okay that’s enough.

 

Marcus Lee to visit California today.

There are reports he will commit while on campus during the visit. If that is his play, he will sit one year and be good to go for the Bears in 2017-18.

Tyler Ulis and Alex Poythress worked out for the Suns yesterday.

Devin Booker and Archie Goodwin were at the Suns’ practice facility to support their former Kentucky teammates during a pre-draft workout in Phoenix. Ulis made the trip out west a day early to hang out with Booker, his best friend, before the workout. It was the first NBA workout for Poythress.

Suns GM thinks Ulis is “feisty.”

“He’s very feisty,” Pat Connelly, the team’s general manager, told AZCentral.com. “He’s extremely competitive. I think part of it is people don’t overlook him because of his height. That’s made him the player he is. He takes it as a strength to build on. You can see the way he’s played at Kentucky and every time he steps on the court, he’s a warrior.”

UK baseball misses out on postseason berth. 

It was a heartbreaking end to the season for Kentucky baseball when the Cats missed out on an NCAA tournament berth yesterday, after beginning the year by winning seven of its first eight weekend series. Losses to Northern Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky and Western Kentucky were too damaging to the RPI, though, which was the likely factor in keeping the team out of the tourney.

“We are disappointed to miss out on the postseason,” Mitch Barnhart said in a statement to The Courier-Journal. “As we do at the end of every season, we will evaluate all aspects of our program to position ourselves for success, from ongoing stadium plans to staffing.”

DeAndre Ayton wants to visit Kentucky.

From the Nike EYBL event in Atlanta over the weekend, DeAndre Ayton, the No. 1 player in high school basketball, told Zagsblog he wants to use one of his five official visits on Kentucky. Ayton also plans to visit Kansas and Arizona. He said his relationship with the coaches will be the deciding factor in the decision.

Oklahoma City should’ve won last night.

But Steph Curry and Klay Thompson happened. The Thunder dominated that game throughout, but the three-pointers from Curry and Thompson were too much to overcome. The Warriors have the most dominating shooting duo the game has ever seen and those two have the team playing in the Finals for the second consecutive season, almost single-handedly. It did seem like the Thunder gave up a little bit, though.
