Cutter Boley broke multiple UK freshman passing records during his breakout 2025 campaign. Now the Kentucky quarterback is adding another accolade to his resume.

On Thursday, Boley was selected as the quarterback on the 2025 SEC All-Freshman Team. The Kentucky native started in ten games for the Wildcats, finishing his season with 2,160 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions on 7.2 yards per attempt.

Boley completed 65.8% of his passes, setting a new UK Freshman record. He also broke a record previously held by Jared Lorenzen by throwing for 12 touchdowns against SEC competition. He had 10 touchdowns and only three interceptions in six games at Kroger Field.

During his first season as the Cats’ starting quarterback, Boley was named SEC Freshman of the Week in three consecutive weeks. He was exceptional at the start of November, throwing for two touchdowns in a win over Florida, and helping the Cats gut out a road win at Auburn. He threw for 236 yards and a touchdown in a win over Tennessee Tech, but it was this rushing touchdown that got Kentucky fans to their feet.

Shortly after the season ended at Louisville, Boley told reporters, “I want to play for Kentucky.” The following day, Mark Stoops was fired, adding uncertainty to Boley’s situation. Will Stein said he “100%” wants Boley back in Kentucky blue next fall.

“I just urged him to compete and to trust this process and to know that I don’t think there’s a better guy that’s going to be his head coach than me, to coach the quarterbacks, and to be around him every single day,” the new Kentucky head coach said on KSR.

We do not know exactly what his next move is, but there is no doubt that Boley exceeded early expectations as a freshman, putting him among the best of the league’s best young players.
