Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville tight end Damarion Witten is one of the top targets on Kentucky’s offensive recruiting board. The flex target is fresh off an impressive junior season at a powerhouse program and is one of the top players in Ohio in 2024. The local Big Ten school has taken notice.

Ohio State has long been seen as Kentucky’s top competition in this recruitment. Witten has an official visit scheduled with Ohio next weekend (June 23-25). Before that trip, Witten made a quick pitstop in Columbus for a camp visit on Wednesday, per Buckeye Huddle’s Marc Givler.

The No. 350 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking has made a handful of unofficial visits since the 2022 season ended to see Ryan Day‘s Ohio State program. A Wildcats vs. Buckeyes battle is brewing in this recruitment.

Kentucky is gaining steam for Damarion Witten

Damarion Witten was one of numerous class of 2024 prospects in Lexington last weekend for an official visit. The Wildcats made a great impression on the four-star prospect.

“The OV went great, I loved it and my family also loved it,” Witten told KSR on Monday. “I met the whole coaching staff and a few of the players, they welcomed me and my family with open arms.

“Really the best part of the trip to me is the dinner when we was all together, everyone was bonding really well and I loved the hospitality they showed me and my family. What really stood out to me is the way they showed me how they were gonna use me.”

The vibes at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility are strong regarding this recruitment. After speaking to some program sources, KSR’s Nick Roush logged an On3 Recruiting Prediction (RPM) pick for UK to land a commitment from Witten. However, this is shaping up to be a tough battle.

Ohio State is now getting the Glenville rising senior on campus twice in 10 days for some final visits before a decision could come. The Damarion Witten recruitment could come down to the wire.
