Another Kentucky Track & Field alumnus will bring home a medal from the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Daniel Roberts, Class of 2019, won bronze in the 110m hurdles this afternoon, finishing in 13.09 seconds. Fellow Team USA member Grant Holloway took home gold with a time of 12.96. Jamaica’s Hansle Parchment finished second at 13.07, just two hundredths ahead of Roberts.

This is Roberts’ first-ever World Athletics medal. He won the 110m hurdles at the U.S. Championships in Oregon last month in 13.05 seconds. Holloway, who ran for the University of Florida and has been Roberts’ rival in the event going back to their college days, had a bye to Worlds as the reigning world champion. Not only did two Americans finish on the podium in Budapest, but two former SEC stars, confirming that it truly does just mean more.

Women’s 100m hurdles heats begin tomorrow

Tomorrow, three former Wildcats start their quest for medals in the 100m hurdles. Jasmine Camacho-Quinn will represent Puerto Rico and Keni Harrison and Masai Russell Team USA in the preliminary heats, which begin at 12:40 p.m. ET. The semifinals of the 100m hurdles are tomorrow and the finals are on Thursday. Today, Micaela Hazlewood will also compete in the finals of the women’s discus throw at 2:20 p.m. ET. You can watch both events live on USA Network, NBCSports.com, or the Peacock app.

The weekend, UK 2022 graduate Alexis Holmes competes in the Women’s 4x400m relay. On Sunday, Holmes led the mixed 4x400m relay to a comeback victory for the ages. Holmes, the anchor leg, passed Olympic medalist Femke Bol of the Netherlands in the final ten meters, with the Dutch star falling to the ground and dropping her baton. Holmes finished her leg of the relay with a personal best of 48.82 to give Team USA not only the gold medal but the world record at 3:08:80.
