4-Star Center Darius Wabbington Hears From Kentucky at the Start of the Contact Period

The new 2027 names continue to emerge for Kentucky basketball. Darius Wabbington is the latest target.
The 6-foot-9, 225-pound center from Sunnyslope (Phoenix, AZ) told KSR+ that Kentucky assistant coach Cody Fueger reached out shortly after the 2027 contact period began. Wabbington has offers from the likes of Cal State Northridge, Arizona State, and Washington, among others.
Wabbington has heard from a lot of schools on Sunday. Schools such as BYU, USC, Illinois, Oklahoma, Purdue, Texas, Providence, UCLA, Utah, and Louisville have all been in contact.
College coaches began reaching out directly to 2027 recruits at midnight on June 15. KSR+ is keeping a full list of Kentucky’s contacts on the KSBoard.

Darius Wabbington’s Game
Four-star center Darius Wabbington of Phoenix (AZ) Sunnyslope is the nation’s No. 18 overall prospect, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3 ranks Wabbington as the No. 40 player overall, the No. 4-ranked center, and the No. 2 best player from Arizona.
“Darius has a strong frame and what popped for him is the shooting touch,” On3’s Jamie Shaw wrote after the USA Basketball Final Four Minicamp in early April. He knocked down multiple spot shots from varying levels of the floor. Overall athleticism will be a question, but he is a strong traffic rebounder when he gets his hands on the ball.”
Playing on the Nike EYBL Circuit, Wabbington is averaging 13.3 points, 8.7 points, and 1.9 blocks per game. He’s playing on Arizona Unity’s 16U’s team.
@Arizona_Unity 16u w/13.3 pts, 8.7 rebs, 1.9 blks per game. High upside big.
