DeMarcus Cousins believes Kentucky has 'no heart' -- and Mark Pope doesn't disagree: 'I'm pissed.'

From one former player to another, Mark Pope agrees with DeMarcus Cousins‘ assessment of these Wildcats: Kentucky has no heart.

As the score shot up with limited pushback, leading to a fourth straight loss against actual competition to begin the 2025-26 season, the fan favorite from John Calipari’s first year in Lexington took to social media to vent about his former team’s want-to in the 35-point loss.

How do you get embarrassed in front of a crowd that appeared to be 98 percent blue and white, and more specifically, the loudest and most passionate group of this fanbase in Nashville?

“Can’t lie…this (UK) team has no heart!” Cousins tweeted. “This is hard to watch (shake my head).”

Pope’s reaction? The 1996 national championship captain, who was supposed to be honoring the 30th anniversary of that historic team this season, was disgusted watching the on-court product, too.

Like Cousins, fans loudly booing the team from the rafters of Bridgestone Arena, and all of you reading this, surely, Pope was pissed at everything — especially the coaching.

His product was a disgrace to Kentucky basketball, and he’s comfortable admitting that.

“I have no issue with what he said, in the sense of — like, if you’re watching that game, you feel like, starting with the coach, this product is completely unacceptable. Unacceptable.”

Whatever criticisms you have about these Wildcats and Pope as a coach, fire away. He feels the same way.

“I think that, as a former player here, I’m pissed at the coach too. That’s just all deserved. There’s nothing inappropriate about what he said at all.”

This team could use a nice, long chat with DeMarcus Cousins about what it means to wear Kentucky across their chests.

No heart.
