Over the last three recruiting cycles, Kentucky has gone into Middle Tennessee and signed five players from the Greater Nashville area. Barion Brown (Nashville Pearl-Cohn), Tre’vonn Rybka (Dickson County), and Keaten Wade (Spring Hill Summit) are each expected to play roles for the Wildcats this fall. That recruiting success has continued in the class of 2023 as four-star wideout Shamar Porter (Nashville Ensworth) is the highest-ranked commit in Kentucky’s class.

The Middle Tennessee area has seen a population boom in recent years and that has led to an increase in football talent. Kentucky is attempting to take advantage of the available talent in its border state. There’s another skill talent player emerging on the radar.

On Tuesday, Nashville (Tenn.) McGavock wide receiver Demitrius Bell decommitted from Michigan State. The top-500 recruit is a top-15 player in Tennessee. Bell (6-1, 175) was seen decked out in Kentucky gear on Instagram that same day.

Kentucky hosted the prospect for an unofficial visit in April. Demitrius Bell also took visits to Alabama, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt during the offseason. The high three-star prospect took an official visit to Michigan State in June just prior to committing to the Spartans.

The Wildcats currently have two wide receiver commits in the 2023 class. Both Porter and Anthony Brown are top-500 prospects. Louisville (Ky.) PRP athlete Jakob Dixon could play either wide receiver or tight end at the next level. Kentucky has done a great job building the wideout room and will have seven former top-500 recruits playing for Scott Woodward this season.

Demitrius Bell is a generator with the ball in his hands who can provide great value as a run-after-catch threat to a college offense. Kentucky might be able to get into Middle Tennessee and score another recruiting win.
