The news of Matt Ponatoski visiting Kentucky before his trip to Los Angeles for the Elite 11 finals is the biggest story in Kentucky football recruiting right now (Vince Marrow to Louisville can finally take a backseat), but this wasn’t the only recently QB recruiting development. Kentucky’s only commit in the 2027 class just received a big offer.

Ole Miss has entered the chat for Buford (Ga.) High quarterback DJ Hunter.

Just few recruiting cycles ago, Lane Kiffin made a push for Cutter Boley. The Cats were able to hold off the Rebels and numerous other power conference programs to sign the in-state blue-chipper. Now UK could have to do the same with Hunter.

The top-500 recruit in the 2027 cycle pledge to UK on April 7 to become the first commitment in the class. That gives the program a true building-block to hopefully build a solid recruiting class around, but that recruitment could be far from over. Hunter recently left Knoxville (Tenn.) Bearden to joined Buford’s powerhouse program. The rising junior will have a lot of eyes on him playing at a recruiting hot spot in the Peach State.

Kentucky’s QB recruiting is currently on an uptick but the Cats will have to hold off some other schools for DJ Hunter. Expect some more offers to roll in for the talented young passer with legitimate explosive play potential.
