Kentucky commitment, DJ Wagner, is going to have to build a bigger trophy case. Not long after winning MVP of the McDonald’s All-American game, and fresh off winning the event’s 3-point Contest, the Iverson Classic named Wagner the National High School Player of the Year.

Wagner marks the second year in a row an incoming Kentucky freshman has won this award, as Cason Wallace took home the honor in 2022.

On3 ranks Wagner as the 5th best overall recruit in the class and the nation’s best combo guard. He is the premiere recruit in Kentucky’s best class overall class since 2014, as he carries on his father’s legacy to play for John Calipari.

Iverson Classic is hosting two other Kentucky signees, Rob Dillingham and Justin Edwards. They joined Wagner in winning some hardware during the afternoon awards ceremony as the three stud recruits look to showcase their skills tonight in the weekend’s main event exhibition game. You can catch the action starting at 7:00 p.m. EST on CBS Sports or via online streaming.

If the practice session was any indication, the game is going to be a blast. If you want yet another sneak preview of what you can expect to see in Lexington in the fall, you are not going to want to miss the Iverson Classic, which touts itself as the biggest .

Dillingham and Wagner will team up and play for Team Loyalty while Edwards will compete for Team Honor. Aaron Bradshaw was invited to attend, but ultimately could not make it.

Congrats to Wagner, Dillingham, and Edwards. Let’s keep those trophies flowing once they suit up for Big Blue Nation.
