Another piece to Kentucky’s The Basketball Tournament alumni team has been added to the roster — and he’s one who doesn’t sleep.

On Wednesday morning, La Familia announced that former Wildcat shooting guard Doron Lamb (2010-12) is joining the team for this summer’s TBT event. La Familia will host a regional at Rupp Arena from July 19-23 where Lamb will suit up alongside fellow one-time Kentucky player Eric Bledsoe (2009-10).

So far, only Lamb and Bledsoe have been announced as participants, although more names are expected to be released over the coming months. Former Kentucky player Twany Beckham (2011-13) will serve as the team’s General Manager.

Lamb spent two seasons at Kentucky under head coach John Calipari and was a key piece to the Wildcats’ 2012 national championship squad. He was an All-SEC Freshman member in 2010-11, averaging 12.3 points per game on 48.6 percent shooting from deep. Lamb returned for a sophomore season in 2011-12, averaging 13.7 points per game on a 46.6 percent clip from deep while making Second-Team All-SEC along the way.

After getting selected in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and spending a couple of seasons in the NBA and G League, Lamb has made stops in Greece, Turkey, Poland, Italy, and Morocco. He currently plays in Italy for UEB Gesteco Cividale of Serie A2.

Looking ahead to TBT this summer, eight regional sites will host the 64 teams in this year’s bracket. For the fifth straight summer, a winner-takes-all grand prize of $1 million will go to the championship team. Lexington hosted a regional site back in 2019 at Frederick Douglass High School, but this will be the first time it’s held at Rupp Arena.

Since TBT began in 2014, it has awarded more than $13M in prize money and has been viewed in more than 180 countries around the world. Alumni teams have won TBT’s championship in four of the past five summers, with teams representing Ohio State, Marquette, Syracuse, and the University of Buffalo taking home the $1M prize between 2019-2022.

TBT is also the home of the Elam Ending, the alternate ending to games where teams play to a target score. ESPN will broadcast every game across its family of networks.

Tickets for the 2024 Lexington Regional will go on sale at a later date. To be the first to secure tickets for the event, fans can sign up for TBT’s waitlist at thetournament.com/tbt/tickets/.
