Eli ---- Someone's Coming for you.....

Ok now here is some UK football news that I can truly get behind. My favorite UK football player in history not named Blake Bowling is making a bit of a splash in the NFL. Yes our man, the Hefty Lefty, Round Mound of Touchdown, Pillsbury Throwboy, Jared Lorenzen is showing signs that he may actually have an NFL career. After an auspicious start in which he walked out of camp in his first year with the New York Giants, incredibly the Blue Man Group invited J-Load back, allowing him last year to knock out the "Bachelor" Jesse Palmer, in order to become the third string QB. And now this year, the Load is throwing his weight around some more and hunting another celebrity, Tim Hasselback....whose wife Elizabeth is quite possibly the most annoying woman not named Ann Curry, while hosting The View. Seems that Jared is having such a good mini-camp that he may knock Mr. View off the roster completely. FoxSports had this to say about the battle: Quarterback Jared Lorenzen, 6-4 and 285, has been surprisingly effective in camp so far and that lends credence to the thought that last year's backup, Tim Hasselbeck, is going to be the odd man out in the four-quarterback competition. From early indications, veteran Rob Johnson will supplant Hasselbeck as the backup to Eli Manning with Lorenzen the third quarterback. But if he continues to show pin-point accuracy along with a cannon arm and a newly-acquired sense of the offense, it is a long-shot possibility that Lorenzen might be the backup himself. It is no secret that I love me some Lorenzen. No Kentucky player was more consistently entertaining over his years in college and he was a known national commodity due to his entertaining build. Like fellow Kentuckian Patrick Sparks, Lorenzen had a love-hate affair with UK fans who were often supremely critical of him during his time here. Of course after calling for Shane Boyd and watching the QB situation since he left, most of those fans likely have less to say now. Either way, I am pulling for the Throwboy big time. His time at Kentucky was great and when CBS would put him in a lineup with offensive lineman and ask us to "pick which one was the QB," it got me every time....especially the 10th time because I was being distracted by Antonio Hall singing "Old Man River."
