Eric Wolford Whiffs on Offensive Lineman Jalen Farmer

Jalen Farmer started National Signing Day by making news that he’s not making moves. The Florida commit shared with On3’s Chad Simmons that he’s sticking with the Gators, even after Dan Mullen was ousted to make room for Billy Napier.
“In this short time it’s been a tough process,” Farmer said. “I want to thank all the coaches that recruited me. It’s been a wild ride. But at the end of the day I just felt like it was the best fit for me.”
A 6-foot-4, 300 pound three-star interior offensive lineman from Covington, Ga., Farmer originally committed to Florida in early September. As signing day approached, the drama surrounding his recruitment increased, and through no fault of his own.
Kentucky offensive line coach Eric Wolford put the full-court press on Farmer, convincing the big man from the Atlanta Metro to officially visit UK’s campus on the last weekend prior to the Early Signing Period in December. Instead of putting pen to paper right away, he decided to wait to sign until February.

As Auburn and other schools tried to pry Farmer from Florida, Wolford continued to heavily recruit the offensive lineman. Wolford was reportedly on a recruiting trip to see Farmer when Nick Saban asked to interview the journeyman for the vacant offensive line position at Alabama. Wolford took the job, then began recruiting Farmer to Alabama. Farmer received an offer and officially visited last weekend, ruffling feathers in Lexington.
Despite Wolf’s efforts in Lexington and Tuscaloosa, Farmer will be a Florida Gator. Even though it’s no longer the biggest day of the recruiting calendar year, National Signing Day always delivers drama.
