Ericka’s brother, Brandon Weems, spent three seasons in Lexington under head coach John Calipari and was a staff member on the 2012 National Championship team. His official title was Assistant Director of Basketball Operations and he is currently the director of scouting with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Brandon is a known friend of Akron native and NBA icon, LeBron James. The two both played high school basketball at St. Vincent-St. Mary, which is also located in Akron.
James has already addressed the situation on social media, asking the city of Akron to help figure out how and why this tragedy occurred.
AKRON OHIO!! My brother’s sister was murdered this past weekend in her home! My brother family need answers to why and by whom. My city I need y’all to go to work and find out who did this awful, shameful, disgusting thing to such a caring, loving angel! #Justice4EricaWeems❤️💔
