ESPN released college football bowl projections today, and the Kentucky Wildcats are projected to go bowling by both Mark Schlabach and Brett McMurphy.

Schlabach predicts that the Cats will head to Memphis for the AutoZone Liberty Bowl to take on the Texas Longhorns and Charlie Strong. Texas is a team that would be fun to watch take on the Cats, in my opinion, but I doubt Charlie Strong will even be the coach at that point if he continues his current trend.

McMurphy thinks that UK will take on the Temple Owls in the Birmingham Bowl on December 29th. Nothing against Temple, but I’d like to see the Cats take on a football program like Texas, more so than Temple. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out. This weekends game against Mississippi State is vital to Kentucky’s bowl chances.

Some other notable bowl projections include that both McMurphy and Schlabach think that the Playoff will include Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, and Washington. Meanwhile, Louisville sits on the outside looking in, taking on either Tennessee or Nebraska in the Capital One Orange Bowl.

Western Kentucky is also projected to go bowling by both McMurphy and Schlabach to take on Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl. Southern Miss would be playing Georgia Southern in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

Zero of the three teams that UK has beaten this season(Vanderbilt, South Carolina, New Mexico State) are projected to make a bowl game.
