Eva Hudson and Brooklyn DeLeye Continue to Shine for Kentucky Volleyball

Outside hitters Eva Hudson and Brooklyn DeLeye took center stage Sunday afternoon as No. 3 Kentucky delivered an outstanding performance, sweeping No. 2 Texas 3-0 (25-14, 28-26, 27-25) inside a sold-out Gregory Gymnasium.
The elite duo combined for a shocking 38 kills, 19 digs, and four blocks in one of the Wildcats’ best all-around performances of the year.
Hudson put on a show, leading all players with 20 kills while hitting an incredible .452 hitting percentage on only one error. The senior also contributed 10 digs and two crucial blocks, marking her fifth double-double of the season. Her offensive dominance and consistency helped to set the tone, as the Wildcats hit .571 in the first set with zero attack errors. Hudson was also strong from the back row, making several key plays late in the second set to help push Kentucky to a 28-26 victory.
DeLeye, who was coming off an SEC Offensive Player of the Week honor, matched her teammate’s elite performance with 18 kills, nine digs, and two blocks, all while hitting a superb .500 on 36 swings. The junior’s consistency in being able to handle pressure points and score efficiently was proven throughout the match, particularly in crucial points of the third set. DeLeye’s serving strength and timely strong kills helped lead Kentucky from a 16-13 deficit to a 27-25 win, delivering the knockout punches with back-to-back kills that put Texas to bed for good.

Together, Hudson and Deleye were a scary combination, helping guide Kentucky to 52 kills as a team and only 11 errors on a total of 116 attacks. Their ability to balance power with precision completely dismantled Texas’ defense, which usually dominates at home. On the season, DeLeye is up to 334 kills while Hudson isn’t far behind with 316 — both top 50 marks in the nation.
