Ehh...a little too powerful for my tastes.
Now that the dust has settled from the spring signing period, transfers and draft declarations,
Luke Winn from SI.com has released his first round of Power Rankings for next season. Winn says that unless something major happens, say, UK landing both Terrence Jones and Kareem Jack, these rankings will pretty much stay the same through October. Click on
the link if you want his juicy details, but I'll save you the time and give them to you here:
1. Duke
2. Michigan St.
3. Purdue
4. Kansas State
5. Kansas
6. Villanova
7. Pittsburgh
8. Ohio St.
9. BYU
10. North Carolina
11. Temple
12. Kentucky
13. Baylor
14. Old Dominion
15. Wisconsin
16. Butler
17. Georgetown
18. Florida
19. Missouri
20. Gonzaga
21. Washington
22. Illinois
23. Xavier
24. Texas
25. Memphis
Looking at that list, I'd say it looks pretty fair.
And as a UK fan, I believe 12 is about right for this team, if not a little generous. I have no complaints about the top 3 and who knows how the rest of the list will shake out. All I know is that at the end of the season, Kentucky will not be ranked behind Temple. Go Cats.
