First Time in Program History UK Softball Advances to SEC Semifinals

The team celebrates after Christian Stokes hit her seventh homerun of the season.[/caption] The University of Kentucky softball team advanced to the semifinals of the 2014 SEC Tournament for the first time in program history today after defeating No. 7 Tennessee. Kelsey Nunley threw seven scoreless innings and allowed only 5 hits, walked 1 and struck out 7. The shutout against the Lady Vols is Nunley’s sixth of the season and is now 23-7 from the mound. The Cats were paced offensively by Christian Stokes, who hit her seventh homerun of the season to help lead the Cats to the 2-0 victory over Tennessee. The Cats next opponent is highly touted No. 6 LSU, who they will face tomorrow at 3 p.m ET on ESPNU in the SEC semifinals.
