Newark (N.J.) Gill St. Bernard 5-star 2016 shooting guard
Tyus Battle will visit Kentucky June 17, his high school coach, Mergin Sina, confirmed to
CatsPause.com Tuesday.
Although Kentucky is relatively new to Battle's recruitment, Sina and new UK assistant Slice Rohrssen go back a long way.
"I've known coach Rohrssen for over 30 years," Sina said. "We played against each other in Brooklyn."
John Calipari and Rohrssen also got a closer look at Battle during the spring evaluation period at the Nike EYBL in Sacramento back in April, playing for Team Scan alongside fellow UK target
Cheick Diallo.
Battle averaged 8.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists in helping guide the Cardinals to an 11-5 record and a Peach Jam berth.
Battle (6-5 185) is rated No. 8 overall in the 2015 class by the
247Sports Composite, which takes into account rankings across various outlets.
Syracuse sits at a comfortable 94 percent but Kentucky just picked up a prediction on Battle's 247Sports
Crystal Ball.
