For my old Kentucky home...

I was constantly surrounded by Wildcat fans who shared in my excitement for basketball and football games, and the ever so often Cardinal fan who, try as they might, were never able to snuff out my spirit. At a young age, I discovered Kentucky Sports Radio. I can remember listening to Sunday Morning Sports Talk with my dad on WLAP from elementary school all the way up until he bid me farewell to UK. To Kentucky fans in my hometown, KSR is some sort of Mecca. Everyone talked about Matt Jones and gasped at some of his more controversial statements, while laughing at Drew's daily antics. I dreamed every single day that I would one day get to be a part of the most ridiculous Kentucky sports platform, and thankfully, that dream came true. From my first posts where I sat for hours writing my favorite post about Kentucky breaking the law of averages against LSU in 2015, to working as a reporter for Coach Cal's Fantasy Camp, every bit of this internship has been what I had always hoped. Sure, writing about the almost-undefeated season was a little more fun than Kentucky's failure to hit from behind the arc, but each post was written with you in mind. The icing on the cake? I feel more like a Kentucky fan than ever. Some of my first memories as a UK fan revolve around former Wildcat, Chuck Hayes. I had the chance to meet him when I was seven years old and, in a nervous panic, used my one question to ask him if he could dunk. Though I am still mortified to this day, it was one of the best memories I have as a UK fan. Then there were the not so exciting times, such as the 2015 National Championship loss. It was my first year as an intern for Kentucky Sports Radio and I truly thought there was no way I would be able to write anything positive again. Those two streets over from me could hear my wailing as any dramatic millennial would, and many tried to console me to which I replied, "Nothing will ever be good again." Except it always, always gets better if you're a Kentucky fan, unless Billy G. is your new coach.  Now, as I write my farewell post to Kentucky Sports Radio and make my move to Atlanta, I want to say thank you. Thank you to Matt Jones for taking a chance on a slightly neurotic, freshman sorority girl with big dreams. Thank you to Maria for saving me on countless occasions and always responding to my panic texts when YouTube videos wouldn't convert correctly into posts. And last but certainly not least, thank you to the wild and crazy fanbase that is the Big Blue Nation, for reading my and all of the other interns' posts and supporting us (aside from the occasional snide comments). It's been a fun three and a half years, y'all. Go Cats!
