Former Boyle County star Landen Bartleson arrested, dismissed from Notre Dame

Landen Bartleson, a former three-star prospect and Boyle County HS standout, has been dismissed from the Notre Dame football program following his arrest on Friday.

According to Danville police, Bartleson was one of three suspects arrested after breaking into a Boyle County gun store and stealing nine firearms. He is also being linked to a vehicle theft that reportedly occurred at Centre College around the same time.

Police have confirmed that Bartleson is facing charges of Burglary, 1^st degree, Criminal Mischief, 1^st degree, Receiving stolen property, and Unlawful transaction with a minor.

After reviewing the case, Notre Dame has announced that they are releasing the Danville, KY native from the Letter of Intent he signed on Dec. 18.

“After reviewing all of the facts available to us and speaking with the Bartleson family, we informed them that Landen will no longer be welcomed as a member of our football program,” Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly said in a statement released by the school. “This incident is very much out of character for the man we have come to know and we wish Landen and his family well.”

Bartleson, listed as the No. 519 prospect nationally and No. 6 in-state recruit in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, signed with the Fighting Irish over offers from Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio State, and Louisville, among others, out of high school. This past season at Boyle County, the three-star recruit finished the year with 47 rushes for 402 yards and 12 touchdowns during his time on offense.

Now, instead of enrolling at Notre Dame this season, Bartleson’s football future is very much in question.
