The WWE is scouting for its next batch of talent from the college ranks. Before this weekend’s Wrestlemania at Jerry World, the WWE is hosting 53 athletes for a three-day tryout at the Dallas Cowboys’ facility in Frisco, Tx. One of the 19 college football players in attendance is former Wildcat Abule Abadi-Fitzgerald.

Abule recently wrapped up a five-year career on the Kentucky defensive line. He earned nine starts and appeared in 30 games. Last year he recorded 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble, stripping Hendon Hooker on a takedown against Tennessee.

The WWE told ESPN it wants to use this tryout to accelerate the developmental process. If Abule gets the green-light, he has exactly what it takes to be a WWE superstar.

Abule is a Badass Wrestling Name

Every good wrestling character needs a good name to match his or her persona. Pronounced “ah-BOO-lay,” the big man from Nigeria already has the name of an enforcer. Before even showing you a picture, you already know you are not messing with a dude named Abule.

A Multi-Sport Star

The former Wildcat is not just a big dude in the trenches. A 6-foot-6 athlete, he originally moved from Nigeria to Florida to play basketball. He picked up football as a high school sophomore and it fit like a glove. He just needed to add more than 50 pounds to get to his 296-pound frame. He moves well for a big guy, and if needed, he can easily shed some lbs. to get more agile in the ring. After all, he also was a track athlete in high school, competing in the discus, shot put and 400 meters.

Most importantly, Abule is a natural athlete. I learned at the Citrus Bowl that he’s up for pretty much whatever, regardless of experience. Prior to an outing at TopGolf, he busted the special teamers’ chops for having too much time on their hands to play golf. He insisted he was not a golfer, then proceeded to smash golf balls into the net of the driving range. A fast learner, it’s exactly what you need in this profession.

Abule has the Personality for WWE

Abule is a piece of clay the WWE can mold into a star. They can turn him into a strong, silent type, or his character could be a goofball. No, he will not be playing songs like Elias, but he could fit in with a crew like New Day. He’s not shy in front of a camera and speaks well, albeit with a slight accent that could inject some mystery into his back story. Abule Abadi-Fitzgerald has plenty of potential in professional wrestling. If it doesn’t work out for him in the WWE, I know a guy with a wrestling company that could certainly use a former Wildcat in the ring.
