Former Kentucky DL Corey Peters signed by Jacksonville Jaguars

Twelve years after leaving the University of Kentucky, Corey Peters is still grinding in the NFL trenches. The Jacksonville Jaguars announced they have signed Peters to the active roster after the franchise sent linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson to the injured reserve.
Peters spent the first five seasons of his NFL career in Atlanta after he was drafted by the Falcons in the third round. Peters signed a big deal with Arizona in 2015, but suffered a torn Achilles before ever suiting up for the Cardinals. Despite the setback, he became a team captain and spent six seasons in Arizona.

Corey Peters could have hung it up after the 2021 season, but did not give up. He was signed to the Jaguars practice squad in week two and last week saw his first game action, totaling four tackles in the loss to the Texans. There are now three former Wildcats on Doug Pederson’s squad. Luke Fortner is the starting center, while Peters will line up next to Josh Allen on the defensive line when the team travels to Indianapolis this weekend. Peters has started in 132 NFL games, totaling 320 tackles, 50 for loss, 19 sacks, 10 pass deflections, an interception and a scoop and score touchdown.
Corey Peters is not the only former Wildcat making moves this week. Cornerback Quandre Mosely spent the preseason with the Cowboys. After working out with the Patriots yesterday, the Bucs announced they have signed Mosely to their practice squad. He’ll get to work with former Kentucky defensive back Mike Edwards in the Tampa Bay secondary.
