Former President Donald Trump scheduled to attend Kentucky Derby

Now is your chance to watch the Fastest Two Minutes in Sports with the 45th President of the United States. Donald Trump cordially invites you to join him for the 148th running of the Kentucky Derby. It will only set you back a few bucks.
The pro-Trump Super PAC “MAGA Again” is hosting the fundraiser May 7. It costs $75,000 per person to attend. No, you do not get a discount as a couple.
It’s unclear if the event will actually take place beneath Churchill Downs’ Twin Spires. Darren Rogers, senior director of media services with Churchill Downs, could not confirm that the former POTUS will be in the Bluegrass for the Derby.
“Every year, many high profile individuals choose to attend the Kentucky Derby, including prominent political figures,” Rogers told WHAS-11. “We do not comment on or confirm the attendance of individual guests or those holding private events not coordinated by Churchill Downs.”

This will not be Trump’s first Kentucky Derby. He was in Louisville to watch Charismatic win the 1999 Kentucky Derby. A fan of horse racing, he has recently waded into the Derby waters with some controversial takes. He bashed the stewards for taking down Maximum Security in 2019, then called Medina Spirit a “junky” after Bob Baffert’s winner failed a race day drug test.
Nine presidents have attended the Derby, but only one has made the trip as a sitting president, Richard Nixon. The Queen of England has also graced the Bluegrass with her presence, making the trip to Kentucky in 2007.
