Wide receiver was a position of need for Kentucky this offseason. The Wildcats signed two high school prospects in the class of 2024. We also saw the program add Ja’Mori Maclin (North Texas) and Raymond Cottrell (Texas A&M) from the transfer portal. A sixth addition to the position room was made on Sunday.

UAB transfer Fred Farrier II (6-1, 180) is a Cat.

The Frankfort (Ky.) Franklin County product was an unranked recruit in the class of 2021 who has recorded 29 receptions for 389 yards over the last two seasons at UAB. The transfer received mostly Group of Five interest since entering the transfer portal, but Kentucky issued a scholarship offer earlier this week. Farrier took a visit to Lexington over the weekend and ended his recruitment quickly with a commitment. The Kentucky native will be returning home to the Bluegrass.

Fred Farrier II will be a redshirt junior in 2024 with two years of eligibility remaining. The American Athletic Conference transfer is expected to be enrolled for the spring semester. Kentucky now has 11 scholarship wide receivers on the roster. Nearly half of the room has been added via high school and transfer portal recruiting this offseason. The Wildcats are committed to building more depth at wideout.
