Fort Thomas Matters, a northern Kentucky media outlet whose name either argues a position or describes the site’s concentration, caught up with future Wildcat quarterback Patrick Towles last week and posted the interview online. Mark Collier, who is universally referred to as the David Frost of Ft. Thomas high school sports, sat down opposite Towles and delivered the “gotcha” questions we’ve come to expect from the lamestream media. No softballs in this bunch.

– In all seriousness, the interview paints a great picture of our future star. Patrick talked Jared Lorenzen, Tee Martin, his roundball game and gave the final word on the “Pat or Patrick” debate. You cannot read the transcript and not absolutely love the kid, if only for his candor. When asked what his long term goal for his time at UK, he responded, “To win a national championship.” Towles dropped this great line too: “Winning is the only thing that matters.”

– Whatever your feelings for the current coaching staff, the big blue horizon is bright with Towles. He seems to embrace the opportunity to compete with Max Smith and Morgan Newton, a refreshing perspective from such a high profile recruit. The young quarterback is clearly talented, throwing 42 touchowns and only 1 pick last season, but he qualified the stats with this: “All the touchdowns are awesome, but it would mean nothing to me if we didn’t get that ring.”

– As if that weren’t enough to get you excited about the young guy’s arrival on campus, Patrick had this to say about the boys in black and red:

I don’t like Louisville very much. I grew up not liking them and I can’t wait to help to try to beat them next year.

– So why haven’t you clicked over to read the whole thing yet? Go now.
